Collection: Halva
The primary ingredients in this confection are sesame butter or paste (tahini) and sugar, glucose or honey.
Halva is a traditional fasting food among Greeks who traditionally have food restrictions due to Greek Orthodox fasting periods, especially from meat, on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year, and for all of Great Lent. Halva is also frequently served as a dessert, or at "paniyiria" (village festivals).
It is most commonly made of sesame or semolina. The Greek Middle Eastern products we stock include plain, chocolate and various nut flavours.Â
